| I'm developing an affinity for looking at the sky.
i can't comprehend infinity, and this reminds me of it.
sometimes it scares me.
The ground is limited.
The sky is not.
Why were we designed to walk and have to watch the ground and not the sky? |

| I saw graffittied on a wall today, "America is not at war. America is at the mall." I'm not even a supporter of the war, but the phrase resonated with me.
if capitalism feeds consumerism which is the biggest supporter of patriotism, I 'm not particularly "proud to be an American'.
socialism collapsed because prices failed to tell the economic truth.
capitalism will collapse because prices fail to tell the ecological truth.
and then i think even if you spend your whole life combatting the forces of capitalism, you still might end up on a tshirt from the GAP.
oh hell...
...what are you going to do?

| Fish can only hide in the sea until the ocean dries up.
i am worn thin, perhaps that God can cover what I cannot? |

| On dreads, "Our hair represents a lack of concern with the material- lack of concern with vanity...our hair is symbolic of our status as servants."
i started my dreads this past week.
i am proud of my locks.
photos to come. |

| Today i began learning the art and science of coffee roasting. Its about 100 times more complex than i anticipated, and am a bit overwhelmed at nuances and flavors and technicalities but am simultaneously excited.
i also realize how much of my life currently revolves around this bitter bean and yea, i know it all seems ridiculous,(coffee roasting through the week, potentially being a barista trainer at MAC, working at Starbucks on weekends, etc.) especially to those who don't drink it, ahem, mis padres, but it's an interest growing into a passion and I think the world of coffee holds longevity for me.
but then again I used to want to be a librarian, and look how that panned out.
make coffee not war, Jes |
